Common Blue Polyommatus icarus SM-A530W F1.7 1/60s ISO40

Common Blue Polyommatus icarus is originally a European butterfly but has recently been spotted in Toronto. The favourite food for its caterpillars is bird’s foot trefoil Lotus corniculatus, which is everywhere growing low under the grasses. It’s a butterfly that likes urban spaces, especially untended spaces with grasses and wildflowers where trefoil grows abundantly.
