It has been awhile since I have felt the sun on my face. This past winter has been a dreary one. Between December and January we had maybe 10 days of sun. And March wasn’t a whole lot better.
Now finally spring has arrived and along with it the sounds of the song birds and the sweet jewel coloured spring blooms of crocus, daffodils, hyacinths, squill and these little ones of bloodroot.
Bloodroot blooms very early in spring and only for a short two weeks. It’s hard to get out at just the right time to see them. I caught them once a few years ago and just as they were preparing to open. It was a treat to see them again.
What’s blooming where you are?
