The spring sunlight felt warm on my skin, alternating with the delightful coolness of the shadows of the just unfurling leaves.
The slightly muddy, yet crisp, rain-like scent of the river rose up to my nose as I strolled along the asphalt path in the park.

I glanced over my left shoulder.
What was that?
I could see a tuft of herbaceous plants with red stems.
That was different from anything I had seen in the previous weeks.
What was it?
I headed over for a closer look.
It was a patch of Jack-in-the-Pulpit.
I had never seen any of those here. Back home I had seen a few scattered clumps on the forest floor, but never any here.
I smiled. It was good to see these urban woods recovering their native vegetation.
That had just made my day.
What have you seen recently that made your day?

You are so observant! Thanks for sharing π
